...I'm just disappointed that so few people came to the last poetry slam.
Despite that, I'm going to try to do another one. Time TBD, so does anyone have any suggestions?

THE POETRY SLAM WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, AT 9:00 PM EASTERN TIME. I remain optimistic. COME!
Alright, so here's the run-down for all of you who may be puzzled about this poetry slam business:
The poetry slam is an event in which YOU come over to the Prancing Pony and do as many as you like of the following things.
a) read us your poetry - exclusive or - judge poetry
b) listen to poetry
c) eat food, drink
d) strip (this IS a strip joint, after all)
e) watch others strip
f) generally fraternize
g) sing songs
h) have fun
i) stay the night in one of our quality rooms
Not necessarily in that order.
People show up. They post poems, long and short, good and bad, IC and OOC. If we can get anybody to judge, they rank the poems on a scale of 0 to 10 with one point allowed after the decimal, and then we determine a winner. More often than not, nobody wants to judge, so we just enjoy the poetry.
And stay as many days as we may like.
And the wonderful place that is the Prancing Pony inn, tavern, and strip joint.
Ahhhh.

Alright, they're ordered. That's yellow polka-dotted curtains for the human-sized rooms and neon pink for the hobbit-sized rooms. The pink ones are to scare away ringwraiths, but we'll keep the old beige ones in stock if any hobbit is more scared of pink curtains than of ringwraiths.

It is time.
Yes, time.
Time for another POETRY SLAM!!!
The poetry slam will be held at 9:00 EST (or whatever time my mun is in right now) on Wednesday, the fourth of September.
Everyone who wants to may post poetry. You may post as many poems as you like. If the poems are to be scored, please put "Slam poem" as the subject of your post. If you are not slamming and would like to score the poetry, please score ALL the poems. Simply reply to the post with "Score" in the subject line and give each poem a score from 0 to 10, with one place allowed after the decimal point. Poems can be written by you or your mun, we appreciate all that is good!
There will also, of course, be ale and stripping and all the usual stuff that goes on at the PP. And also a good place to stay for the night if you're coming from far away ;). Hope to see everyone there!

My sincere apologies about the tardiness. The poetry slam is open! As always, original (written by you or your mun) poems are acceptable, please put "slam poem" or something like it in the subject. If you do not submit any poems to be scored, you may judge. If you judge, please judge all the poems. The poetry slam is closed! I had trouble with the scoring because some people scored some of the poems but not all of them, but thank you Sauron and Frodo for scoring all the poems! The winner was Lord Elladan for his poem "The Silence", reproduced below:

The Silence.

faces that are streaked by light
lips that never trembled by a sight
footsteps that turn to blood from fright
deep in rivers without a surface.

mirrored in dark eyes that no longer see
battered by voices of the ache to be free
unseen by those who no longer speak
and no one seems to remember.

so gentle it seemed like strings of hair
she lived her life breathing boys like air
so hollow i felt with each dress she wears
as my skin scorched from the heat.

it was my death that she stole from me
the girls she kissed ate her whole for all to see
how is it that it only took knives to make her believe
as fear lives in their faces.

how brightly it burns with a heart that doesn't know
how cold it seems when secrets remain below
how happy are eyes that can close
shame on those who keep watching.
